Episode 4

Articulation the border - the border as a totality of social relation.

[txt_15-16]

Kdykoliv chceme sledovat meze hegemonie, musíme hledat mezery.

19/11/2015 In the evening I set off to the northern part of Africa. The objective of this travel was to document the border between Morocco and Spain. This documentation was obtained via Nikon Digital D5100 Reflex Camera and iPhone 6.64 GB. In case of losing the documentation, it was all backed up on an external drive. The external drive being a place of subjective pragmatism. Each movement is a movement of the mind.

Upon reflection, I decided to work with the documentation obtained on the iPhone 6.64 GB.

Integral architectural elements of a system which can be viewed as a hybrid composed of computer technologies and social, human, and particular forces (energy sources, buildings, cities, gestures, empathy, and animosity). The system is composed of complex relationships between infrastructure, people, and machines, but it is also physically very present...

The user may be an individual or a collective of people; it may also be a human being, a sensor, a robot, or an algorithm. In complex hybrid system it is difficult to ascertain whether a person is standing behind them or not. The user is a heterogeneous and fluid entity which is hard to regulate, meaning that we will have to fundamentally reformulate the basic terminology on which our politics is built.
People and goods, data and money – everything is moving. Anytime we wish to monitor the limits of hegemony, we have to search for gaps. The world order is not connected to the internal relationship with one’s own body; quite on the contrary: it abstracts the feelings projected into the body.

Borders are built where there is a need to deal with and organize social space and the political management of public affairs. The establishment of new virtual borders in the north of Africa. Undermining the masculine idea of Robinson Crusoe. Migrants can never reach the border on their own accord. The decision is made in households, familial structures, and within social networks. Thinking in the migration mode helps to emphasize mutual dependence of observation and action. It opens up space for gaps and ambiguity. The most common manifestations of borders should not be looked for alongside geographical borders but rather in digital records. Where borders lie – the border itself is dead...
